Scoping call
About twenty minutes. You describe what's slow or not working. Working out what should be built is our job, not yours. If an off-the-shelf product already does it, we'll name the product and tell you to buy that instead.
How it works
Six steps from the first call to handover, with what you pay and what you own at each point.
About twenty minutes. You describe what's slow or not working. Working out what should be built is our job, not yours. If an off-the-shelf product already does it, we'll name the product and tell you to buy that instead.
A short document listing what gets built, what it costs, and when it's delivered. Fixed price, not an hourly rate. Anything you add later is quoted separately and only proceeds once you approve it.
You get something you can open and use, early. It's incomplete at that stage, and that's the point — changing direction then costs almost nothing, and most people know what they want as soon as they see something real.
Your team uses it on real work and tells us what's wrong or missing. This round of changes is included in the quoted price — it's how the finished thing ends up fitting your business.
Set up on accounts in your business's name, with backups running, a short written guide, and a walkthrough for whoever will use it. Anything that breaks in the first 30 days is fixed at no charge.
Websites and live system connections need monitoring, updates and backups. That's a fixed monthly fee, cancellable any time. It's never a condition of the original work.
Pricing
Custom software used to be priced by the hours it took, and it took a lot of them. A basic internal tool meant months of work billed at a developer's hourly rate, which put it out of reach for most businesses under a certain size.
Much of that routine work is now automated. What remains is deciding what to build, making sure it holds up in daily use, and keeping it running.
The saving is passed on. A calculator is a few days' work rather than a month. A small internal app is weeks rather than a quarter. The quote reflects that.
Ownership
Cloud services, domain names and subscriptions are opened in your business's name and billed to you directly by the provider. We don't sit in the middle and we don't mark them up.
Once the final invoice is paid, everything built for you belongs to your business outright, including the source code.
Written up well enough that another developer can pick it up. Nothing is built in a way that requires us specifically.
It stays in your systems. We don't take copies, and we don't need one to support you.
Ongoing care is month to month. Stop it and everything keeps running — you're just no longer paying for it to be monitored.
Scope
Saying no early is cheaper for both sides than a job that goes wrong.
If established software does the job for a reasonable monthly fee, buy it. We'll tell you which one.
Replacing a core business system across multiple sites needs a full team and a different kind of firm.
If two departments disagree about how something should work, software won't settle it.
If the figures going in are wrong, no tool fixes that. That needs sorting first.
